Ford Freestar Ranked Most Reliable Minivan in 2010

A recent study by J.D. Power and Associates, awards the Ford Freestar with the honorable designation of most dependable minivan.  The U.S. made minivan scored perfectly in all of the four categories in which cars are judged (over the first three years of ownership) for the 2010 Vehicle Dependability Study: Overall Dependability, Body and Interior Dependability, Powertrain Dependability, and Feature and Accessory Dependability.

No, inflatable seatbelts are not meant to be used as floatation devices. That would be a good guess judging solely by the name. Actually they are designed to offer back seat passengers additional protection during a car crash.

The inspiration for Ford's inflatable seatbelts (which made their debut in the 2010 Explorer SUV) came from an existing safety device proven to protect front passengers: the airbag.
