The Ford Explorer Replica Made Entirely of Legos

When a lot of us were younger, Legos were only available as square blocks of different colors. Building something like the USS Enterprise from Star Trek involved a lot of time and much imagination. Children these days seem to have it a lot easier - the Lego play that are available today look similar to model, identical what they are supposed to represent.

The same can be said about this Ford Explorer built from 380,000 Legos at the auto maker's Chicago Assembly Plant.

Soon this model will be on display in Florida at LegoLand. The Lego Explorer is one-of-a-kind, non-functional piece of automotive art.  This Explorer reproduction took nearly 2,500 hours to assemble. We have a feeling that Lego might have had one of their interns devote a whole lot of time to this project.

Said Legoland General Manager Adrian Jones: "We're less than a month from opening and the anticipation level is incredibly high. This is the only park of its kind in the world built exclusively for kids ages 2 to 12, and it will be a total departure from anything families with young children have seen before. It's a completely immersive experience, engaging kids' imaginations and their sense of adventure through interactive play."1

There are many metal and fiberglass built Ford vehicles to test drive at Koons Ford - 2540 Riva Rd. - Annapolis, MD 21401.
