Ford and NPR Launch FordSync Application

A Ford can now deliver up-to-the-minute news, from a liberal standpoint. NPR is releasing a new app, available to download not only on smartphones (Apple and Droid) but also onboard cars featuring the FordSync system.

Late year, AppLink for was developed for 2011 Ford Fiesta owners, which can interface and control vehicle-tailored apps. AppLink has now added NPR to the mix. The news organization can utilize Ford's Sync API free, to create interactive and informative content.

"What I'm most excited about is that we're taking what all of you have experienced on your smartphones, and have turned it into a personalized experience where you can get the data, the content, and the programming that you want at your fingertips," said Doug VanDagens, Ford's global director of connected services.1

Users can listen to news on their own schedule, recording shows and building play lists, in the same way you put together iTunes lists. You can even constrict a line-up via topics: sports, political news, comedy, etc. Travel a lot for work, or relocating? Designate favorites among hundreds of NPR stations around the country.

AppLink is now available on most Ford models, see which ones at Koons Ford in Annapolis, MD.
